who are we?

We are an independent Enterprise Agency, which has helped local people to set up co-operatives and other forms of democratic business for 18 years.

what do we do?

If you want advice, training and support to set up a worker co-operative, community owned enterprise or credit union we can help you. We can also provide assistance to employee buy-outs. Most of our services are free and all are confidential.

We work to encourage all forms of community economic development; and we aim to provide a realistic and sustainable approach to developing the local economy. There are over 80 co-operatives and credit unions associated with the CDA in Leicester and the County.

when can we help?

  • people starting a new co-operative need a legal structure specially tailored
  • small businesses want to combine to compete more effectively
  • a group of sole traders want to share the costs of jointly managing premises
  • a business already trading wants a more appropriate legal structure
  • members of a local neighbourhood want to set up a community owned business to provide jobs and services
